I have done my research on the Tablet Android for a couple of months and I can say that this unit is the best value for money.

If you want to compare an iPad not waste time.

IPad starts at $ 499 – more than double the price!

For the price, is by far the best tablet I tried!

I have this drive for watching movies and photos on clear long walks outside and responds perfectly!

Even if I am in hotels, picks up immediately and Wi-Fi is connected.

The kicker is if you do the research unit, with smaller screens, less memory and less versions of the Android operating system are there for the same price!

Why spend more for less ?!?!?

I tried several before settling Android tablets 6 in this case (I will not name names) – The Sylvania SYTAB10MT is for me!

Lots of fun!

I love HTC Flyer 3G / WiFi 7 Inch Tablet PC. We’ve had ours for a few weeks and I am enjoying it.

I don’t like that it doesn’t have a flash and it doesn’t give you the option to view ebooks in landscape view (resolution).

But it’s fun and handy to have on a flight. Great for videos and using on the go.  

HTC Flyer 3G / WiFi HotSpot Review : What a fun little device!

I bought a HTC Flyer 3G / WiFi HotSpot last night and it’s fantastic. Do not throw the word around and not based on a superficial assessment. HTC Flyer 3G is actually a nice little device.

The HTC Flyer 3G has same operating system on my HTC Evo phone I felt comfortable using and customizing the user interface.

The Apple iPhone was about 6 months and is tired of its limited user interface can not be modified or custom files. (Wow_)

HTC‘s Android operating Sense (based on Linux) platform is a very strong and very customizable.

You can change backgrounds, add widgets to your desktop the right thing to update your Facebook status, weather, videos, books, multi-user interface directly to an office that moves with a flick of a finger.

The HTC Flyer 3G syncs with your Gmail (Google Mail) and replicated in view of calendar, contacts, emails, documents on the device.

    There are tons of fun little applications, here are my favorites:

GPS: Wow! The GPS system is equipped with an amazing person with access to Google Maps that always has the last card.

Time: animated weather conditions, temperature high / low flying clouds organized by 5 days, etc. It ‘really great.

Password Keeper: Encrypt and store the passwords in the clear so as not to forget the old password.

Machine Control: A question of conduct for navigation, finding places, listen to music through your car radio and voice search capabilities invited.

Checklist: I use to keep track of daily activities, can not forget.

The screen of HTC Flyer 3G is 7 inches in diameter and websites are very well represented, and chopped (horizontally). You can dbl-click power zoom for readability.

People complain about the speakers, but given the size of unit size, as precisely as possible.

If you want better speakers, go buy a bigger unit.

Here are some disappointments:

– Use what looks like a USB sync cable instead of the owners. It sucks b / c we have many micro-USB can be used with the device.

– Automatic device works only on two sides, top and camera on the right side. Not auto-rotation of the other two sides. A big problem.

I’ll update this in a few months with more observations, but for now this is all about.

Kindle Fire Wi-Fi, Full Color 7″ A good device with some flaws

Bought Kindle Fire Wi-Fi for my wife. This $200 android tablet ended up costing well over $300. $40 for a case that should have been included and another $50 for the warranty.

My wife loves the Kindle Fire Wi-Fi but gets very frustrated with things like loss of wifi connection, youtube videos are basically a coin toss as if they will play or not, lots of broken images on webpages, Netflix would not work, random lockups and most serious the micro usb port became so loose she had to fiddle with the cable forever to get a connection so she could charge the thing.

The micro usb cable/charger that comes with it is short only 4 feet and the connector is long so using the Kindle Fire Wi-Fi plugged in puts stress on the port and loosens or breaks it very easily. The reason for using the kindle on AC instead of battery is that with wifi on the battery drains fast. I had to return the first kindle because of this.

Her new one is better at playing youtube videos, netflix works now and it’s generally more stable but still has connectivity problems when my laptop is showing 3 or 4 bars at the same location. I refuse to use the kindle cable and instead bought a right angle micro usb connector by StarTech and it works great. It fits flush against the Kindle Fire so no more stressing the port and no more cable poking you in the chest. Unfortunately it does cover the power button but that’s a minor quibble just unplug the cable to turn it off.

Overall I think The Kindle Fire Wi-Fi is an excellent device for the money. They should have done a better job with flash video organized the port, jack and power button layout a bit better and reinforced the frail Micro USB port.

One thing I REALLY do not like is if a Kindle breaks and needs replacement; it’s a toss up if you get a new or refurbished replacement even with an extended warranty. I asked specifically and was told they didn’t know what I would get for a replacement; that it would depend on where the replacement shipped from. I’m sorry but I don’t want someones cleaned up hand me downs especially since I spent extra on the warranty.

Good cost/benefit ratio over the old Toshiba Thrive 7

Versus the old Toshiba Thrive 7, the new Toshiba Excite 7.7 has better battery life; a nicer screen image; a better Android operating system; and a nice aluminum case.

Note that despite what the Excite 7.7’s Quick Start guide functional diagram says, the correct function of the “slider switch” next to the Excite 7.7’s power button is to lock/unlock the power button. Once I figured out the function of that slider switch, I upgraded the rating.

Excellent tablet

Getting this tablet is a tough call given the premium price and the fierce competition of the (much) cheaper Nexus 7. However, there is nothing cheap about this android tablet. The top notch internals and beautiful screen are nicely matched with a handsome workmanship and build quality. It looks, feels and responds as premium as its price. Sure, you can get some of the similarities of the form factor for less money, but no other tablet out there as of today offers the combination of size, power, screen quality, build quality and expansion possibilities that the Excite 7.7 does.

Only downsides are a cheap camera, which even though I wouldn’t imagine taking photos with a tablet, still its a shame its not top notch as everything else; and the battery could be better. It still is very reasonable lasting through the day with normal use, but this gorgeous screen just demands long hours of video playback and gaming and the battery will surely struggle.

Best value? no. Best tablet period? yes.


simply perfect

Everything works so smoothly. Very fast and the screen is crisp and vibrant. Is only about 1/4″ thick but has a solid feel in the hand with nice weight. I bought the 16gb internal memory and a class 10 32 gb micro SD card for my music. I saw a dock with usb’s and HDMI was just released so I’ll get that too. The voice recognition makes text input a breeze. I bought this after using my wife’s 10″ Thrive for 7 months, which works well also.
